Don Rogers
Don Rogers, 63, of Warsaw, Ind., passed away unexpectedly at 4 a.m. Friday, June 14, 2013, in his home.
He was born March 18, 1950, in Warsaw to Merle E. and Arlene J. Yarger (Rogers). He was a 1968 graduate of Warsaw High School and joined the United States Air Force. He was honorably discharged at Lowry Air Force Base, Colorado, on Nov. 21, 1969.
A lifetime resident of Warsaw, Don married Barbara Young on Aug. 15, 1971. He worked as a sign coordinator for Kosciusko County Highway Department for 30 years retiring in 2004. He also worked at Warsaw Big R for 7 years.
Don was a member of North Winona Church of the Brethren, American Legion Post 49 and the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Association. He enjoyed golf and Nascar (Dale Earnhardt and Dale Earnhardt Jr. were his favorite drivers), he liked John Deere tractors, was a workaholic and displayed a great work ethic. Although not always spoken openly, he was a very caring man who had a big heart for helping others.
He was a devoted husband and dad who was always loving and caring, always ready to help his children and go the extra mile for them. He loved spending time with his family and especially loved time with his grandchildren.
He is survived by a daughter: Michele (Michael) Psalidas, South Bend, Ind.; a son: Brian L. Rogers, Warsaw; three grandchildren: Alan and Brycelyn Psalidas, South Bend; and
Autumn Rogers, Warsaw; his mother: Arlene J. Rogers, Fort Worth, Texas; two brothers: Robert S. Rogers, Fort Worth, Texas; and Tony Rogers, Tucson, Ariz.; and a sister: Lucy Aitken, Tucson, Ariz.
He was preceded in death by his wife: Barbara Rogers; and his father: Merle Rogers.
Visitation will be from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, June 20, at Titus Funeral Home, Warsaw. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, June 21, in the funeral home with Pastor Michael Smith, North Winona Church of the Brethren. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw. Military honors are to be conducted by Warsaw’s American Legion Post 49 and VFW Post 1126.
