Karen J. Weirick, 69, of Bourbon, Ind., passed away at 9:45 a.m. Sunday, March 16, 2014, in St. Joseph Regional Medical Center of Mishawaka, Ind.

Karen was born Nov. 21, 1944. She has been a lifelong resident of the area. On Sept. 15, 1962, she married Barry Weirick, who died Oct. 22, 2003.

Karen was a homemaker and a graduate of Mentone High School. In her spare time she loved her dog, Lily, and she enjoyed sewing and spending time with her grandchildren.

Karen is survived by her two daughters: Tamara (Rick) Schuh, Tippecanoe, Ind.; and Debra (Les) Phipps, Mentone, Ind.; seven grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and her mother-in-law: Betty Weirick, Crystal Lake (Warsaw, Ind.)

She was preceded in death by her mother: Jane Witt; her husband: Barry; and her sister: Kathy.

Visitation is from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Thursday, March 20, at Deaton-Clemens Funeral Home, 115 S. Main St., Bourbon. Funeral services will follow at 3 p.m. Thursday with Rev. Stormy Scherer-Berry of Bourbon First United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will follow in the Tippecanoe Cemetery, Tippecanoe, Ind.
