Fire Breaks Out At Hoosier Landfill In Claypool
At approximately 4:30 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 30 Pierceton Fire Department and Sidney Fire Department were called to the Hoosier Landfill located at the 2700 block of East 800 South on reports of smoke billowing from the ground on the backside of the facility near the methane burn off area.
Responders found some items had caught fire. A representative from the landfill extinguished the flames by smothering them with dirt.
According to an official at the scene, the incident was nothing major. However, it did put a lot of smoke in the air. At the time of posting, the fire was reportedly under control.
