Penelope ‘Penny’ Lynn Shapiro
Penelope “Penny” Lynn Shapiro of Warsaw, passed away at 4 p.m. Friday, Aug. 21, 2015, at Parkview Regional Medical Center of Fort Wayne, at the age of 48.
She was a 1985 graduate of Putnam County High School in Granville, Ill., and later she attended Illinois Valley College for two years. She worked for many years as a flight attendant with Continental Airlines.
She had been a resident of Kosciusko County, for the past eight years. Penny was very involved in her children’s school activities and was a wonderful supporter and volunteer of Warsaw School Corporation. Her love was so pure and genuine that she received the same in return from all of the people she shared her journey through life with.
She was born on July 5, 1967, in Spring Valley, Ill. to Robert Edward Munson and Linda Lou (Jefffrey) Munson who both survive in Granville, Ill. On Nov. 24, 1990, she was married in Utica, Ill. to Michael Reid Shapiro, who survives in Warsaw.
She will be lovingly remembered by her four sons: Matthew; Jacob; Joshua; Samuel Shapiro; and her daughter: Hannah, all at home in Warsaw. Also surviving is her brother: Robert (Brai) Munson, Minooka, Ill.
Friends and family are invited to gather to celebrate her life at a memorial service that will be conducted at noon Saturday, Aug. 29, in the gymnasium at Lincoln Elementary, Warsaw. Arrangements were entrusted to Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home, Warsaw.
Memorial donations may be directed to Lincoln Elementary School, Warsaw, and would be appreciated by the family. Please designate funds for Lincoln PTO in memory of Penny Shapiro.
