Case Of Animal Neglect In Marshall County Could Be Biggest Ever
MARSHALL COUNTY – Marshall County law enforcement is investigating an animal neglect and abuse case that some say is the biggest they have ever seen.
Brian Watts, trainer and border for the company SBK Training Ranch, left his home in Inwood, leaving dozens of animals to fend for themselves. More than 30 animals were found Friday in extremely poor conditions. Some of the animals, including 22 horses, belonged to people who paid thousands of dollars for Watts to care for or train their horses. Some of the other animals on the property belonged to Watts himself.
Marshall County Sheriff’s Department arrived Friday at the home after receiving complaints about a yard full of emaciated animals. One of the animals was so sick it needed to be put down. Now, Marshall County’s Humane Society is working to find homes and medical attention for about 10 horses that are still on the property.
Bringing all of the horses back up to good health can cost upwards of $10,000, making the adoption of the remaining horses essential. Watts could face charges in animal neglect and abuse.
