Dorothy E. Decker
Dorothy E. Decker, 70, a resident of Churubusco, passed away at 4:45 a.m. Sunday, November 29, 2015, at Parkview Regional Medical Center in Fort Wayne. She had been in declining health since January.
Decker was born on Feb. 13, 1945, in Trigg County, Kentucky, a daughter of Wilton and Mildred (Francis) Lancaster. She spent her formative years in Hopkinsville, Ky., and graduated from Hopkinsville High School in 1964.
In 1967 she moved to Churubusco and had been employed at Orkin Exterminating Co., Inc. in Fort Wayne for over 37 years, currently working as their office manager.
She attended Pathway Community Church in Fort Wayne, and in her leisure time enjoyed flower gardening, and most especially loved and cherished her children and grandchildren.
The surviving relatives include her daughters: Stephanie Duncan and Tracy Decker, both of Churubusco; two sisters Genella Campbell and Gustie (Hoge) Greene, both of Hopkinsville, Ky; three grandchildren: Alexander Duncan, Hannah Decker and Emma Decker; and her former husband Norman L. Decker of Churubusco.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother Wilton Lancaster, Jr; and by a sister Janice Davie.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 3, 2015, at the Sheets & Childs Funeral Home in Churubusco with Dr. David Biberstein, care pastor of Pathway Community Church, officiating.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday or one hour prior to the service Thursday.
Interment will be in the Eel River Cemetery, south of Churubusco.
