Customer Appreciation At Warsaw Farmers Market
WARSAW — The Warsaw Farmers Market is a little more than halfway through its 2016 season and, so far, it has been a successful one.
Saturday morning, Aug. 20, coordinators held a customer appreciation day, complete with refreshments, entertainment and giveaways.
Customers sipped lemonade and water and snacked on cupcakes and cookies as they browsed vendor booths. Cap’n Bob Barnes brought musical entertainment. Attendees could also sign up to win a gift basket filled with items donated by the various vendors.
“It’s been wonderful,” Farmers Market Publicity and Event Coordinator Cindy Stier said of the 2016 season so far.
New this year was a kids’ club, which she said was successful and will be back next year. Entertainment was also a plus, she said.
“That’s really brought the market to life,” Stier said. “I’ve been wanting to do that forever.”
Farmers Market president Kegan Burns noted a farmers market gives community vendors a way to try out a new business venture one day a week. It is also a way for customers to support local growers and crafters.
Upcoming events at the farmers market include a veggie art contest Saturday, Sept. 17, during which vendors will create veggie sculptures and customers will vote on a winner. Saturday, Oct. 15, will be the grand finale for this year’s farmers market and will include the annual chili cookoff.
