Lakeview Football: 7th Grade Squad Claims Title
WARSAW – The Lakeview Middle School 7th grade football team put an exclamation point on an undefeated season with a championship performance.
Lakeview ended its perfect season by blanking Wawasee 22-0 in the title game of the NELMSC Playoffs.
Jonney Barrett had a huge effort to pace the champions. He scored three touchdowns, along with a two-point conversion. Barrett finished with 90 yards rushing and 35 passing in the victory.
Kyle Schnackenburg had a two-point conversion and 69 yards rushing. Tucker Curtis added 40 yards rushing and Omar Ponce 30. The offensive line of Hayden Berry, Bradyn Lowe, Broc Fraley, German Flores and Ashton Chilcutt had a strong game for the champs.
Flores had a fumble recovery and Brandon Matchem an interception to lead the defense. The foursome of Flores, Ponce, Chilcutt and Devlin Duff led the team in tackles.
Lakeview finished its season with a 9-0 record, including a pair of shutouts in the conference playoffs.
