Lutheran Celebrates Grand Opening Of New Orthopedic And Sports Medicine Complex
WARSAW — Local athletes and weekend warriors now have a new resource in Kosciusko County. Lutheran Health Network KCH celebrated the grand opening of the new Orthopedic and Sports Medicine Complex in Warsaw yesterday, July 20.
OPS is Lutheran Health Network’s sports medicine program. Its core components include sports performance, sports medicine and physical therapy.
OPS offers the only sports program in northeastern Indiana that is dedicated to improving the biochemicals of athletes. The expansion of services is a collaboration between Lutheran Health Network KCH and the Orthopedic Hospital of Lutheran Health Network to meet the needs of regional athletes.
This complex also utilizes a partnership with the local schools including Grace College, Warsaw Community Schools, Triton School Corporation and Tippecanoe Valley School Corporation. Students will be offered athletic training services as well as discounted rates throughout the complex.
Services will be offered to more than just school athletes. The sports performance programs offered can help all athletes reduce their chance of injury and improve performance. The process focuses on a thorough understanding of human movement, not just strength building.
Mike Poore, CEO Lutheran Health Network, described the process as a continuum of care. “We want to keep people well and we want to keep them from having injuries. But if they do have injuries, and we all do, we want to be able to treat those injuries,” said Poore. “Back in the day, you went to the hospital then you went to physical therapy at another place and then you went back to your high school and tried to work your way back … It’s basically a one-stop-shop for anything that you would have around orthopedic sports medicine.”
The 12,600 square-foot space holds a physical therapy clinic will be available with an emphasis on sports physical therapy. In addition to PT treatment, the facility includes a regulation-sized, 1/2 court basketball court, a turf section and a rubber gym floor for specific sports training. The weight room will provide strength training and functional movement equipment designed for sports performance training. The location also includes an orthopedic driven walk-in urgent care.
The complex is located next to DePuy Synthes on US 30, at the old United Telephone Company location.
