First Friday’s ‘Thanks For Giving’ Theme Attracts Large Crowd
WARSAW — The November First Friday event featured a musical performance by country music artist Jason Michael Carroll and a rodeo, along with multiple games and activities.
Despite the fact that trick-or-treating had been rescheduled to Friday evening due to inclement weather Thursday, many people showed up in downtown Warsaw to enjoy First Friday activities and entertainment.
The event’s theme was “Thanks for Giving,” sponsored by G&G Hauling and Excavating, Warsaw. Attendees were asked to bring items to help fill a G&G dump truck to support local not-for-profit organizations, such as Beaman Home, Salvation Army, Combined Community Services, Serenity House, Fellowship Missions, Heartline and All Things New.
At 7:30 p.m., Carroll performed at the courthouse square. After being discovered at a local talent competition in 2004, Carroll was signed to the Arista Nashville label in 2006, releasing his debut album “Waitin’ in the Country” that same year. The album produced three consecutive top 40 hits, “Alyssa Lies,” “Livin’ Our Love Song” and “I Can Sleep When I’m Dead.”
Local celebrities participated in an equipment rodeo. There were games and activities, including pet rock painting, sandboxes, a roller demonstration and crane basketball.
Visitors also had the opportunity to complete a crossword puzzle for a chance to win prizes in hourly drawings. To complete the puzzle, participants were required to visit not-for-profits and go to the different types of equipment on display.
