Indiana State Park Campgrounds Expected to Open May 24
News Release
INDIANAPOLIS – Campgrounds, State Park Inns, restaurants, family cabins, and camper cabins closed by the pandemic, are tentatively scheduled to open Sunday, May 24.
All Indiana Department of Natural Resources’ properties including state parks, state forests, fish and wildlife areas, nature preserves, and state recreation areas are open. However, some services and facilities are temporarily closed.
All DNR properties began charging entrance fees Friday, May 15.
Outdoor activities, and travel to and from those activities, are still permitted. These include hiking, fishing, boating, birding, hunting, bicycle riding, and geocaching. Equestrian and mountain bike trails are open for day use only.
Still closed are; playgrounds, fire towers, and other similar facilities, shelters, recreation buildings, and other enclosed picnic areas.
State Park Inn pools, All group camps, youth tent and rally tent areas, drinking fountains, and vending machines remained closed.
