William R. Brown
William R. Brown, 95, Warsaw, passed away on Saturday, Aug.15, 2020, in Mason Health Care and Rehabilitation. William was born Dec. 14, 1924, in Pierceton, to Charles and Pansy Ruth (Outcelt) Brown. He was united in marriage to Mary D. Weeks in 1949, who passed in 2009.
William proudly served his country aboard five submarines in the U.S. Navy as an Electrician’s Mate 3rd Class from July 1943 to May 1946. During his lifetime he worked as a driver for the State Highway and the Kosciusko Co. Highway Department, maintenance for the Comfort Inn, as well as Owned and Operated Brown’s Barbee Gravel from the 1950’s to the 1980’s. He was a self-employed Farmer, employed as an Electrician for Dalton Foundries and an Electrician, Hoist Mechanic and Safety Tech for R.R. Donnelley & Sons, retiring in 1988. William was a lifetime member of Morris Chapel United Methodist Church, Warsaw, in which he was a Lay Leader and Sunday School Teacher.
William is survived by children, Gary (Ann) Brown, Winnebago, Ill.; Susan (Robert) Wine, Lees Summit, Mo.; Carolyn Gunyon, Warsaw; six grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by both parents and wife, Mary Brown.

A visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 19, at McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Warsaw. William’s funeral service will be held at Morris Chapel United Methodist Church, Warsaw at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Aug. 20, with Pastor Steve Newkirk officiating. Interment will follow at Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw with Military Honors rendered by American Legion Post 49 & VFW Post 1126.
