MILFORD — Milford Fire Department and Turkey Creek Fire Department responded to a field fire off CR 1250N between Creek Bend Lane and CR 200W, west of Milford. The call came in at 3:01 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 3.
The field is near a long lane going north off CR 1250N and the fire occurred in the exact same location as a fire on Aug. 23. Milford Fire Chief Todd Haines said the first fire in August had been set and grew out of control. But he said Thursday’s fire probably was caused by high winds reigniting a smoldering fire in the mucky ground.
Firefighters had the fire under control in less than a hour. A farm tractor with a chisel plow was brought in to stir up the land.
