John ‘Jack’ C. Ellsworth
John “Jack” C. Ellsworth, 88, Columbia City, passed away Wednesday evening, Jan. 13, 2021, at Parkview Whitley Hospital. Born April 25, 1932, in Midland, Mich., he was the son of Claude E. and Mary (Johnston) Ellsworth
He graduated from high school in Midland in 1950. Jack served in the U.S. Air Force as an airplane mechanic, served in the Auxiliary Police Force in Clare, Mich., had been an EMT/parametic and retired from Dow Chemical Company. On July 1, 1995, he married Carol (Liedke) Rexius. He was a member of Columbia City United Methodist Church.
Jack is survived by his loving wife, Carol Ellsworth; sons: Jerry (Lorraine) Ellsworth, Terry (Laura) Ellsworth and Mark Ellsworth; daughter, Maryann (KC) Charara; step-daughters: Sheila (Kristopher) Foster and Michelle (John) Plachta; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Sharron (Hines) Ellsworth; and a sister, Eva Dauer.
Due to the current COVID restrictions, there will be a celebration of life at a later date.
Memorial donations may be given in memory to Columbia City United Methodist Church or the Humane Society of Whitley County. Donations may be mailed to DeMoney-Grimes Funeral Home, 600 Countryside Dr., Columbia City.
