Girl, 12, Dies After North Manchester Fire

NORTH MANCHESTER — A 12-year-old girl has passed away following a North Manchester house fire on Tuesday, March 2.
According to a North Manchester Fire Department press release, a firefighter pulled Alyvia Floor, 12, from a house fire at 1005 N. Market St., through a northwest bedroom window. Someone had alerted emergency personnel that a person was still in the residence.
She was unresponsive, and CPR was performed. Efforts to revive her were unsuccessful.
Firefighters were called about midnight, March 2 to the fire. North Manchester firefighters found heavy fire coming from a bedroom area on the northeast corner of the home, which is where officials believe the fire started.
It took firefighters about 35-40 minutes to get the fire under control. Fire units were on scene until 6:30 a.m.
North Manchester firefighter Dan Renz told InkFreeNews a dog also died as a result of the fire. The cause is still under investigation.
Assisting at the scene were Chester Township and Pleasant Township firefighters, the North Manchester Police Department, the Wabash County Sheriff’s Department, Parkview EMS, the Wabash County coroner and the Indiana State Fire investigator.
Renz said the home was a total loss.
