Eileen Davis
Mrs. Eileen Davis, 80, Rochester, passed away at 12:36 p.m. Thursday, June 24, 2021, at her residence.
On March 30, 1941, Eileen Howard was born. She was a cherished daughter of O.C. and Dora Craft Howard. As the youngest of eight children, she shared her childhood with four brothers and three sisters. Eileen graduated from Rochester High School in 1959.
In Rochester, Eileen and John Robert Davis were married on March 24, 1961. They have shared 60 years of life’s adventures. From their union came two beautiful daughters, Penny and Lana. The family tree continued to grow with the added blessings of four grandchildren.
After raising her daughters, Eileen returned to school and achieved her dream of becoming a nurse. She graduated from Ivy Tech South Bend with a diploma for Licensed Practical Nursing. She initially went to work at the Life Care Center. Nurse Eileen concluded her career with Woodlawn Hospital. Eileen also attended the Athens Community Church.
With a love for the outdoors, Eileen enjoyed observing the domestic backyard birds feeding and interactions. Each fall with the garden harvest, she would can the fresh produce for her family’s winter use. Gifted with her hands, Eileen enjoyed sewing , knitting and all kinds of crafting. To relax she could be found in the recliner watching the soaps.
Left to cherish the memories of Eileen are her husband, John; two daughters: Penny Wentzel, Rochester, Lana Kocher and husband Keith, Shelbyville; four grandchildren: John D. Wentzel, 2nd Lt. Keith Kocher Jr, Charles Kocher, Benjamen Kocher; three brothers: Harold Howard, Paul Howard both of Rochester, Carl Howard, Macy; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Preceding Eileen in death are her parents, three sisters: Betty Miller, Finette Rudd, Thelma Rudd; brother, Junior Bailey; and Blackie the long-haired Dachshund.
A celebration of the life of Eileen Davis will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 29, 2021, in the Good Family Funeral Home, 1200 West 18th St., Rochester. Pastor Wanda Carter will officiate. Friends may visit with the family from 4-7 p.m. on Monday, June 28, 2021, and one hour prior to the service in the funeral home. Interment will be in the Athens Hoover Cemetery.
