Kosciusko County
Officers with the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office investigated the following accidents:
- 6:46 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 18, West SR 25, east of South CR 700W, Burket. Driver: Mary F. Eakins, 29, South CR 900E, Pierceton. Eakins’ vehicle hit a deer. Damage: Up to $25,000.
- 5:36 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 18, South Higbee Street, south of West First Street, Milford. Drivers: Taylor W. Shields, 27, North CR 175E, Warsaw; and Danielle M. Condit, 28, EMS B40 Lane, Leesburg. Shields’ vehicle hit Condit’s. Damage: Up to $5,000.
- 5:02 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 18, South SR 15, south of West Union Street, Claypool. Driver: Nathan E. Sell, 42, West CR 1000N, Roann. Sell’s vehicle hit a deer. Damage: Up to $10,000.
- 2:54 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 18, West CR 700S, east of South CR 600W, Claypool. Driver: Anthony B. Marcum, 30, South SR 25, Mentone. Due to road conditions, Marcum lost control of his vehicle, which crossed the center line and left the roadway. It hit a telephone box. Damage: Up to $10,000.
- 2:18 p.m. Monday, Jan. 17, North CR 300E, north of East Defreese Road, Milford. Drivers: Unknown and Edward D. Burchard, 57, East Ponderosa Drive, North Webster. Burchard said an unknown vehicle crossed the center line and hit his vehicle. He said the driver of the other vehicle checked on his safety before leaving the scene. Burchard complained of a sore shoulder, but refused medical treatment. Damage: Up to $10,000.
- 6:46 a.m. Monday, Jan. 17, East US 30, east of South SR 13, Pierceton. Driver: Payton K. Robinson, 20, Ridgewood Drive, Fort Wayne. Robinson’s vehicle slid on the road. To avoid colliding with another vehicle, she turned it right, which caused it to hit a fence. Damage: Up to $5,000.
- 6:31 a.m. Monday, Jan. 17, South SR 13, west of South CR 550E, Pierceton. Driver: Ean T. Wortinger, 23, North Third Street, Liberty Mills. Wortinger’s vehicle hit a patch of ice and slid off the roadway. His vehicle then rolled. Damage: Up to $2,500.
Claypool
Officers with the Claypool Police Department investigated the following accident:
- 6:54 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 18, Packerton Road, north of East CR 600S, Claypool. Driver: Jordan A. Wells, 26, West Fourth Street, North Manchester. Wells lost control of his vehicle on the black ice, causing his vehicle to spin off the west side of Packerton Road and come to rest in a ditch. Wells was taken to the hospital with a complaint of neck pain. Wells said he was in the process of purchasing the vehicle from a guy that lives in Texas and didn’t have proof of ownership or proof of insurance. Damage: Up to $1,000.
Syracuse
Officers with the Syracuse Police Department investigated the following accident:
- 3:26 p.m. Monday, Jan. 17, 501-A W. Railroad Ave., Syracuse. Drivers: Fulgencio Tecpil-Quiahua, 42, West Plymouth Avenue, Goshen; and Natalie A. Christian, 21, North Grove Road, Milford. Tecpil-Quiahua backed into Christian’s vehicle while she was parked and sitting in her car. Tecpil-Quiahua doesn’t have a valid driver’s license. Damage: Under $750.
Warsaw
Officers with the Warsaw Police Department investigated the following accidents:
- 7:33 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 18, North Parker Street, south of East Fort Wayne Street, Warsaw. Drivers: Dorene L. Rasmussen, 72, South Warbler Lane, Warsaw; and Ariel E. Rogers, 31, Michigan Avenue, Fort Wayne. Rasmussen saw slowed traffic and tried to stop the Warsaw Community Schools’ bus she was driving. Its brakes locked up though, and the bus hit Rogers’ vehicle. Damage: Up to $10,000.
- 2:04 p.m. Monday, Jan. 17, Shelden Street and Heron Boulevard, Warsaw. Drivers: Guadalupe A. Patino, 54, Rieder Street, Warsaw; and Ally M. Young, 23, Heron Boulevard, Warsaw. Patino’s and Young’s vehicles collided. Damage: Up to $5,000.
