Manchester names new Vice President for Strategic Initiatives and Corporate Partnerships
News Release
NORTH MANCHESTER — Manchester University has named Leon Letter as the new vice president for strategic initiatives and corporate partnerships. He began at the University on Monday, Sept. 23.
This position oversees the University’s key strategic initiatives and partnerships. The initial focus will be on academic enrollment goals, namely working to grow Manchester’s high school pathways, create a vibrant adult market, and strengthen experiential learning opportunities.
Letter comes to Manchester from Monroe County Community College, where he served as dean of the business division. In addition to this new role, he maintains a legal practice in Edwardsburg, Mich.
“I have always been attracted to institutions that treat students and staff as individuals instead of a number, and where students are able to explore and develop their pathway to improving the communities that they become part of. That is what attracted me to Manchester,” said Letter. “I am looking forward to helping develop opportunities for current and future students by expanding experiential learning opportunities and micro-credential programs.”
“With more than 20 years of experience in higher education, Leon understands the changing landscape and the need to engage students early and provide greater experiences in and outside the classroom,” said President Stacy H. Young. “His implementation of strategic projects and experiential learning opportunities changed the way his community college engaged students in academic programs and initiatives provided by the community.”
