Boren, Nieveen, Rohrs lead LCA
Jo Boren won three individual events and Hailey Nieveen two as the Lakeland Christian Academy girls track team competed in a triangular at Triton High School Thursday night.
Boren won the 200 (27.6) and 400 (1:02) races on the track and also captured the long jump (14-11). Nieveen won the 100 and 300 hurdle races in times of 17.3 and 50.9 respectively.
Triton scored 61 points, while LCA totaled 47 and LaVille 36.
Boren teamed with Nieveen, Hannah Remington and Jessica Hand to win the 1,600 relay in 4:37. Emilee Catron placed second in the 800 and 3,200 and Remington was second in the 1,600 with a season-best time of 5:57.
John Rohrs led the LCA boys team in the meet by winning the 200 in 24.8. He also placed second in the 100 and 400. Chad Wright was second in the high jump and 300 hurdles for the Cougars.
Triton won the boys meet with 80 points. LaVille scored 43 and LCA totaled 20.
LCA also competed in middle school track action Thursday versus Tippecanoe Valley and Northfield.
Melissa Goss won the 800 and placed third in the long jump for the LCA 7th-grade girls. Ellie Nieveen won the 400 and was third in the 100. In 8th-grade action, Carissa Urschalitz was second in the 200 and 400 for the Cougars.
On the boys side, Colby Stevens led the 7th-grade as he placed second in the 200 and third in the 100 and discus. Alex Plastow won the 800 and 1,600 and was second in the 200 in the 8th-grade competition. Alex Goshert was second in the 100.
