DOTSON SLUGS HOMER
Warsaw softball star Kelsey Dotson moved up in the state record books Saturday.
The senior catcher hit her 29th career homer at Rochester. The roundtripper moves the Indiana University recruit into a tie for third place on the all-time state list.
Undefeated Rochester, ranked No. 2 in Class 2-A, won the contest 10-3. The Zebras improve to 21-0.
Warsaw (11-7) plays at Plymouth Monday at 5 p.m.
BASEBALL TEAM WINS PAIR
Strong pitching carried the Warsaw baseball team to a doubleheader sweep of Valparaiso Saturday at WCHS.
The host Tigers won the opener 3-1 and the nightcap by a 6-1 count. Garrett Gruenewald notched the pitching win in the opener. Austin Moore had two hits with a double and Brady Ousley tripled for the Tigers.
Jason Ferguson collected the win on the hill in game two. Ousley homered and Peyton Balazs and Kyle Morris each doubled.
The Tiger JV split with Fairfield Saturday, winning 5-2 and then losing 6-3.
Warsaw (8-9) hosts Plymouth Monday at 5 p.m.
JV TENNIS TEAM FIFTH
The Warsaw junior varsity girls tennis team tied for fifth place Saturday in its own invitational.
Northridge won the eight-team tourney with 27 points. The Tigers tied with Elkhart Memorial for fifth place with nine points.
Warsaw hosts Goshen Monday in its regular-season NLC finale.
