Wawasee Hosting Several Summer Camps
Wawasee High School will host several athletic camps for individuals interested in furthering their skills and love of the game.
Wawasee will host a football camp from May 21-24 for students currently in grades 2-7. The camps will run from 4-6 p.m. on the Wawasee practice football field, and is $35 for the first camper and $30 per additional sibling. All campers in grades 2-4 will get a T-shirt and grades 5-7 will get a football jersey. Deadline is May 14, and while late registration is accepted, no guarantees of shirts or jerseys can be made.
On the docket for the summer include a volleyball skills camp, designed to be a fun three-day experience where players can learn the techniques that are the focus of the high school program.
The volleyball camp is June 26-28 and offers two age divisions – grades 2-5 and 6-9 – with different time for each division. The camp cost is $30 and registration deadline is June 8 for a free T-shirt but campers will be admitted at the door through the first day of the camp.
A boys basketball camp will take place from June 25-28 – grades 2-5 from 9:30 a.m. to noon in the annex gym and grades 6-9 from 9:30 to noon in the spectator gym. The cost is $40 which includes a T-shirt, basketball and individual workout/goal book.
The intent of the basketball camp is to allow campers to begin forming good practice habits as well as starting to develop a look at becoming a Wawasee basketball player.
“Coach Taylor’s All-Star Soccer Camp” will run from July 9-13 at the Wawasee varsity soccer fields from 8 a.m. to noon. The camp is for anyone in grades 1-8 and the $55 early registration fee (before June 30) includes a Wawasee Soccer gym sack. Registration on or after June 30 is $75.
The camp will function like varsity soccer practices, teaching skills, one-on-one development and life skills through the game of soccer.
