Man Injured In Go-cart Accident
WARSAW — Indiana Conservation Officers are investigating a go-cart accident in Warsaw that left a Lake Station man injured Monday, May 7. Warsaw Police and Indiana Conservation Officers were called to the accident around 10:45 p.m. Preliminary reports indicate that 24 year old Matthew Franklin of Lake Station was operating a side-by-side Kandi Go-Cart in a field at a friend’s residence when he lost control while making a turn.
The Go-Cart rolled on to its left side smashing Franklin’s arm between the roll cage and the ground. Franklin was taken to Kosciusko Community Hospital and then transferred to Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne for injuries sustained to his left arm.
The preliminary cause of the accident is being contributed to exceeding the weight capacity of the machine and excessive speed. Conservation Officers urge everyone operating All-Terrain Vehicles and Go-Carts to follow all manufacturers’ safety recommendations. Units assisting Conservation Officers on scene include Warsaw Police Department, Warsaw Fire Department and Multi-Township EMS.
