Collections Help ‘Stamp Out Hunger’
Officials and volunteers for service organizations including Combined Community Services, The Salvation Army, Heartline Pregnancy, Mary & Jerry’s Helping Hands and Our Father’s House were at the Warsaw Post Office where donations of nonperishable food items, baby food and even diapers were brought via drive-in donations and by mail carriers.
Carriers in Warsaw, Winona Lake, Claypool, Silver Lake, Mentone, Milford and Leesburg worked together to collect food for the local food pantries. Residents along postal routes were asked to leave donations at their collection points where the carriers would retrieve them. Last year, 9,300 pounds of food items were distributed to local emergency pantries to replenish depleted supplies. A total of 9,040 pounds of food was donated this year.
