Funding Sought For Western Route
Kosciusko County is among a number of local agencies that have submitted applications for utilizing Local Public Agency Group funds. The county is seeking money for Phase 5 of the Western Route Project.
Indiana Department of Transportation reports 20 total projects have been submitted totaling approximately $13.2 million in requested federal funds.
At a scheduled June 6 meeting, officials from each city and/or county will provide a presentation about its project, how it will benefit the community, and the requested funds. After each presentation, INDOT personnel will ask questions and discuss the project’s merits with city or county officials. The Fort Wayne District’s recommendations will be sent to the INDOT LPA Project Selection Committee for final approval.
The funding sought by Kosciusko County for the Western Route project includes Phase 5 of Old U.S. 30 from CR 350 W to Zimmer Road.
Among the other local agencies also seeking funding include the city of Warsaw and the town of Winona Lake. Warsaw is seeking funding for a project dealing with Husky Trail from Mariner Drive to the city limits. Winona Lake is seeking funding for the Lake City Greenway Phase IV which includes the area of Park Avenue to Grace College.
The public and media will be notified of the final results.
