Rheinhardt Headlines Locals For Midwest Meet
Warsaw standout Spencer Rheinhardt is one of several area senior athletes scheduled to compete as members of the Indiana All-Star Track and Field Team Saturday in the Midwest Meet of Champions.
Rheinhardt placed second in the 800-meter run at the State Finals June 2 in Bloomington. He finished in 1:52.32, a WCHS school record, and just behind the 1:52.17 turned in by state champion Gary Austin of Pike in the race. Rheinhardt also ran on the Warsaw 1,600 relay team which placed 12th at the State Finals.
Also scheduled to compete for the Indiana All-Star contingent Saturday is Skyler Carpenter of Westview. The Vanderbilt University recruit won state titles in the 100 hurdles, 300 hurdles and long jump in Bloomington June 1. Carpenter, a three sport standout at Westview, won seven state championships in her prolific prep career.
The list of area athletes also on the Indiana team includes state champion pole vaulter Kyle Johnston of Penn, state runner-up pole vaulter Jeslyn Zimmerly of Westview, Becca Kropf of Fairfield (300 hurdles), Jenna Pfeiffer of Bremen (high jump), Melissa Dubois of Concord (long jump) and Dillon Hinen of Fairfield (4 X 800 relay).
