Mobile Home Park Petition Tabled Amid Remonstrance
One petition was approved and another contined at today’s Kosciusko County Board of Zoning Appeals meeting. Both of the cases presented are located in Tippecanoe Township.
Kim Edmonds’ petition for an exception was tabled until August. Edmonds is seeking an exception for the purpose of the change and alteration of a non-conforming mobile home park by allowing existing mobile homes and sheds to be replaced that are not meeting minimum setbacks in a residential district.
There were three remonstrators, mainly adjacent property owners, at the meeting.
The property is located on the south side of EMS B61A Lane, just east of EMS B61 Lane in Tippecanoe Township.
The case was continued until August in order for the county to obtain a survey so the BZA can take a look at the property. The board also wants to make sure the property is a state-regulated mobile home park.
The second case was approved as presented. Portia Musgrave is seeking a petition for an exception for the purpose of allowing an accessory structure to remain at 1,517 square feet when the BZA previously granted 1,344 square feet in a residential district.
The property is located on the east side of EMS T50 Lane, just north of Lake James in Tippecanoe Township.
During the construction process, the contractor added a few more square feet than his permit allowed. However, the contractor did not get a revised permit for the expansion of the project. The board proposed a settlement of $500 to the contractor, in lieu of a violation, because of a history of permit violations by the same contractor.
The next meeting is at 8:30 a.m. July 10, in the Justice Building’s basement.
