Animated Commercial Up For Grand Prize
Former Syracuse resident Brock Boyts and his wife, Nellie, learned today they were the winners in the Union Pacific Railroad commercial contest for June. Boyts and his commercial was featured on this website on June 22.
A freelance animator and motion designer now living in Los Angeles, Calif., Boyts is continuing his education in a prestigious program with a goal to one day work on some of Hollywood’s biggest productions. To pay for the 18-month schooling, he is hoping to win Union Pacific’s national contest.
The winner of the contest, however, will not necessarily become the new Union Pacific ad, and there are no current plans to use the contest winning video for a national TV commercial.
As part of the contest, entries compete in a monthly online competition. The highest vote getting commercial for the month wins $1,000. Boyts reported today that they learned the results this morning and are $1,000 richer. “Our video will also be featured all month at the Union Pacific HQ in Omaha for all to see,” he added.
Final judging for the grand prize will take place on July 25.The Boyts’ commercial is available for public viewing here.
