Michael K. ‘Mike’ Elwood
Michael K. “Mike” Elwood, 61, of North Webster, Ind., and formerly of New Haven, Ind., passed away at 5:40 a.m. on Sunday, July 1, 2012, at Visiting Nurse & Hospice Home in Fort Wayne, Ind.
He was born on Oct. 11, 1950, in New Haven to Roy M. and Donna J. (Graber) Elwood.
He graduated in 1969 from New Haven High School and was married on Nov. 22, 1969, in Fort Wayne to Janet Rose Eckert, who survives. He was a lifetime New Haven area resident and part-time Webster Lake resident for the past 25 years. He was the owner/operator of Elwood’s Appliance Inc. in Waynedale, Ind., for over 40 years.
He was a member of the Sons of American Legion Post 253 in North Webster where he held many different positions and served as Commander from 2007 – 2008. He also attended the Salem Community Missionary Church in Wilmot.
Mr. Elwood is survived by his wife: Janet Elwood, North Webster; two sons: Benjamin (Kami) Elwood, Fort Wayne; and Matthew (Teala) Elwood, New Haven; his parents: Roy and Donna Elwood, Woodburn, Ind.; a sister: Karen (Steve) Schwarz, Fort Wayne.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Saturday July 7, at Owen Family Funeral Home, North Webster. Memorial services will follow at 10:30 a.m. in the funeral home with Pastor John Morgan of the church officiating.
