Betty Nyce, 81, of Syracuse, Ind., passed away on Aug. 7, 2012, at Miller’s Merry Manor in Syracuse.

She was born on May 6, 1931, in Elkhart County, Ind., to Carl and Velcie (Hapner) Stetler. She was married to Donald Nyce Sr. who preceded her in 1986.

Betty was a lifelong area resident. After her retirement from Johnson Controls, she was a bartender for many years at the Syracuse Eagles.

Betty is survived by her two sons: Don (Joseanne) Nyce II, Syracuse; and Jon (Jill) Nyce, Milford, Ind.; a daughter: Susan (Roger) Peterson; eight grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; two sisters: Mary Rink, Goshen, Ind.; and Grace Eyer, Syracuse.

She was preceded by her husband; longtime companion: Robert Reasoner; a brother; and a daughter: Linda Nyce.

Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 10, at the Syracuse Cemetery with Pastor Pat Park of the Wawasee Heights Baptist Church officiatng.

Eastlund Funeral Home in Syracuse is handling the arrangements.
