Walter D. ‘Walt’ Nichols Jr.
Walter D. “Walt” Nichols Jr., 72, of North Webster, Ind., passed away on Tuesday, July 3, 2012, in McAllen, Texas.
He was born Sept. 22, 1939, in Mishawaka, Ind., to Walter D. and Alice (Scott) Nichols.
He attended Mishawaka High School and in 1957 went into the National Guard for 7 years where he did training with the Army. He was married on Jan. 1, 1982, in Cassopolis, Mich., to Joyce Quador who survives.
He was an over the road truck driver for the past 35 years and formerly worked at putting in commercial elevators. He and his wife spent the past 7 winters in Pharr, Texas. He enjoyed music in the parks in Indiana and music jams at the Texas RV parks.
Mr. Nichols is survived by his wife: Joyce Nichols, North Webster; two stepsons: Mark Quador, Leesburg, Ind.; and Bruce (Deb) Quador, Wapwallopen, Pa.; an adopted son: Rodney (Richina) Nichols, Syracuse, Ind.; four grandchildren: Jasmine, GeNoa, Josh and Korie; a sister: Ruth Ann (John) Black, Indianapolis, Ind.; several nieces; nephews and great nieces and nephews.
Private family services will be held on Sept. 1.
Owen Family Funeral Home, North Webster, is assisting family with arrangements.
