Darlene R. Carlile
Darlene R. Carlile, 78, of Warsaw, Ind., passed away at 6:45 p.m., Monday, Aug. 20, 2012, in Miller’s Merry Manor, Syracuse, Ind.
The daughter of Buena Vista Walters, Darlene was born on May 18, 1934, in Flintstone, Md. She moved to Warsaw from Fort Wayne in 1977. On Nov. 5, 1977, she married Roy W. Carlile in Warsaw, whom preceded her in death on Sept. 24, 1977.
Darlene graduated from Flintstone High School in 1952. She honorably served our country in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict from 1952-1953. She worked for B&B Shoe Store, Hallmark Store and then she retired from Sofamor Danek on April 11, 1997. She was Past Commander and Chaplain of American Legion Post #49 Warsaw and was a member of the VFW Post #1126, Warsaw.
Darlene is survived by two sons: Mike (Kathy) Jenkins, Lee’s Summit, Mo.; and David (Vanessa) Jenkins, Decatur, Ind.; two daughters: Sharon (David) Poe, Pierceton, Ind.; and Lea Ann Tice, Atlantic Beach, Fla.; 17 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a daughter: Rhonda Hoffer; and four grandchildren: Kyle Griffin, Grace Poe, Patrick Jenkins and SSG. Phillip Jenkins.
Visitation will be from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 24, at McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Warsaw. A funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 25, at the funeral home. Burial will take place at Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw, with military honors by American Legion Post #49, VFW Post #1126 and the ARNG.
The family has requested memorial contributions are to be made to Shriner’s Childrens Hospital, 2211 North Oak Park Avenue, Chicago, IL 60707.
