Lake Area Community Band Wraps Summer Season
The Lake Area Community Band will be wrapping up a successful summer concert season with fourĀ final performances.
The LACB will be performing just two more outside concerts with one of them being tonight at 7 p.m. at Syracuse at Lakeside Park. The final outdoor performance will be at 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 7, at the North Webster Dixie Park.
LACB will move indoors for the remaining two concerts, first at Greencroft in Goshen at 7 p.m. Sept. 6, and then at 7 p.m. Monday, Sept. 17, at Winona Lake Grace Village. For tonight’s performance and for the Sept. 7 performance in North Webster, concert-goers are advised to bring their own lawn chairs.
The band has been under the direction of Conductor Martin Becker for the past 10 years. Highlights of this summer concert series were appearances with the Elkhart Municipal Band in McNaughton Part, a Concert at the Elkhart County Fair, the Optimist Car Show in downtown Warsaw, Fourth of July concert in Syracuse, Auburn Community Band Extravaganza and First Friday in Downtown Warsaw.
The band has shown a growth in membership this season and has over 45 performing musicians. The concert selections the band performs offer a wide variety of music in all styles, Marches, Broadway Musicals, Classical, Novelty, Jazz, Ragtime and Dixieland.
Concerts are all free and the general public is invited.
