Purdue Alumnus Donates $750,000
WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (AP) — A 1974 Purdue University graduate has donated $750,000 to his alma mater to be used for a named professorship in the school of engineering education.
The university says the gift by a foundation created by Geoffrey Crowley will be matched through Purdue’s Faculty Fund for Excellence, bringing the total for the professorship to $1.5 million. Department head David Radcliffe says the new professorship will allow Purdue to attract an eminent scholar.
Crowley, who lives in Appleton, Wis., is president of Northshore Leasing. He was named one of Purdue’s distinguished engineering alumni in 2010. Crowley says the need for high-quality educators grows every year.
Crowley last year donated $1.5 million to Purdue to support strategic initiatives for the College of Engineering.
