Ruth Elda Sobon
Ruth Elda Sobon, 93, of Warsaw, Ind., passed away at 8:20 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 23, 2012, at Grace Village Health Care in Winona Lake, Ind.
She was born on Dec. 26, 1918, in Pittsburgh, Pa., to Olive Violet (Diley) Johnston and William Edward Johnston. On Aug.11, 1944, she was married to Anthony Theodore Sobon, who preceded her in death on Nov. 13, 1980.
Ruth moved to Warsaw in 2005. She had been a member of Mt. Nebo Presbyterian Church in Sewickley, Pa., for 80 years. She was honored for her years of service with the Women’s Auxiliary of Bellevue Hospital and continued to be an avid Pittsburgh Steelers football fan. She enjoyed reading, crocheting and spending time with her family and friends.
She will be lovingly remembered by her daughter: Faye (William) Myers, Warsaw; two grandchildren: Dawn (Brian) Butler, Indianapolis; David Myers, Louisville, Ky.; and one great-grandchild: Emily Faye Butler, Indianapolis.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and one brother: Standly Johnston.
A memorial service will be conducted on Sunday, Sept. 9, at Mt. Nebo Presbyterian Church, 1828 Roosevelt Road, Sewickley, Pa., officiated by Pastor Doug Dorsey. A private graveside service will be held on Saturday, Sept. 8, at Mt. Nebo Presbyterian Church Cemetery in Sewickley, Pa.
