Lady Wildcats Bomb Mississinewa
The girls soccer program picked up its first win of the 2012 season by bombing Mississinewa, 4-0, in South Whitley.
The Lady Wildcats (1-2-1) uncorked 29 shots on the visitors and had four different goal scorers. Reghan Craig, Cagney Craig, Heather Bryan and Ellyana Blue all found the back of the net in victory. Chloe Nestel needed to make just three saves for her first shutout of the year.
Volleyball Team Goes 1-3 At Westview Tourney
Whitko posted a 1-3 mark Saturday while competing in the Westview Tournament.
The Wildcats lost to Concord, Angola and Westview and defeated Eastside.
Whitney Hobbs led the way for Whitko with 16 kills and seven blocks on the day. Meghan Peters had 30 assists and Taylor Zwick had 11 blocks.
Jenny Brown had a strong day with 25 digs and five aces for the Wildcats. Maddie Gawthrop had seven blocks and three aces and Aressa Tackwell had 18 digs.
“The girls played well, keeping all the matches close,” said Whitko coach Brandy Smith.
Whitko (3-4) plays at Warsaw Tuesday with the JV match at 6 p.m.
