UPDATE: One Held At Gunpoint After Pursuit
The pursuit began at 10:20 p.m. when two men apparently refused to stop for officers on CR 300 East near Claypool after their vehicle was seen at a new home construction site on CR 300 East.
During the pursuit, which happened on CR 300 East just north of CR 600 South, the subjects in the vehicle were seen throwing items from their vehicle. Just north of CR 550 South, the subjects bailed from the vehicle and began running.
One of the suspects was stopped at gunpoint and taken into custody. Law enforcement agencies issued a Signal 100, meaning scanner traffic was limited to only emergency traffic. The second suspect was also apprehended without further incident.
The Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department released additional information today noting a county officer responded to a report of a suspicious vehicle in the area of CR 300 East near CR 600 South. The officer located a red, Dodge SUV on the side of the road with the engine engaged. He approached the vehicle and spoke to the driver and passenger when he noticed a strong odor associated with the production of methamphetamine.
As the officer called for a K-9 unit, the driver of the vehicle accelerated suddenly almost striking the deputy.
Kosciusko County Drug Task Force officers and Indiana State Police Clandestine Lab team members arrived to secure the meth related items.
