Gas Station Robbery Suspect Sentenced
Timothy Hackworth, 23, pleaded guilty to the class C felony crime relating to the April 19 robbery of the Silver Lake McClure Gas Station.
Hackworth, along with Andrew Scott Asbury, 19, of North Manchester, and Harrison Henry Shepherd, 18, of North Manchester, stole a Ford Mustang and a Chevy Camero from Manchester Sales and Service car lot during the early hours of April 19. The men then drove the vehicles to Silver Lake where Hackworth was one of two suspects who entered the gas station with their faces covered and robbed the business of cigarettes and an undisclosed amount of cash.
The two then left in the Ford Mustang returning to the “get away” vehicle location and fled into Wabash County in the Chevy Camero. That vehicle was located later in the day near the community of Laketon in Wabash County.
Judge Duane Huffer addressed Hackworth prior to sentencing saying, “Mr. Hackworth, this is so sad. You are a 23-year-old man with an unbelievably long record of criminal activity … I don’t know if someone dropped you on your head as a baby or what, but you need to wake up and smell the coffee.”
Hackworth was sentenced to 4 years in the Indiana Department of Corrections and given 196 days credit. He will also be responsible for all court fines.
