Lancers Spike Huntington
WINONA LAKE – The Grace College volleyball team cruised by Huntington University Friday night in their 2012 home opener from the Orthopaedic Capital Center.
The Lady Lancers (7-3; 2-0 Crossroads League) swept the Foresters by the scores of 25-13, 25-15 and 25-19.
Grace’s offense was kicking on all cylinders as the team finished with a .302 hitting percentage. Their defense was equally impressive by holding the Foresters (0-7; 0-2 CL) to a .013 percentage.
In each of the three sets, Grace never hit below a .250 hitting percentage as a team. In the opening set, the Foresters were held to four kills and eight errors en route to Grace’s 12-point victory.
In their final set, Grace recorded 15 kills on just four errors to clinch the sweep with a 25-19 win.
Arielle Walters highlighted Grace’s win with 8 kills, 2 solo blocks and 3 block assists. Stefanie Bolt recorded eight kills on a .500 percentage, and Calah Kruse added eight kills.
Bethany Whitcraft led all players with 12 digs, and Christina LeBlanc handed out a match-high 24 assists.
Alicia Gosney and Annie Salazar each tallied three service aces, and Gosney also added seven kills and three block assists.
The Lady Lancers continue Crossroads League action with a match at Mount Vernon Nazarene on Wednesday at 7 p.m.
