Wawasee Sports Wrap – Sept. 8
Wawasee ran the table to claim the Triton Volleyball Tournament, winning four games including a sweep of John Glenn in the final.
Wawasee beat Glenn 25-16, 25-13 in the championship game after winning its three pool games. The Lady Warriors beat Culver Community 25-11, 25-6, LaVille 25-16, 25-9 and Bremen 28-26, 25-12 in pool play.
Leading Wawasee on the day were Aly Anderson with 47 digs, Alli Ousley with 48 assists, Taylor Spangle with 13 aces, Kaitlin Goines with 3.5 blocks and Anne Beer with 22 kills.
“This shows the girls that all the time and hard work was worth it,” said victorious Wawasee head coach Jeff Phillips.
Wawasee (12-4) will travel to Westview on Monday.
Academy Blanks Girls Soccer
Caroline Pepper scored the first and fourth goals for Culver Academy as it beat Wawasee, 4-0, in Syracuse. Pepper scored in the eighth minute and then in the 72nd minute to lead the Academy.
Also hitting paydirt for the Lady Eagles were Morgan Osborn in the 17th minute and Allison Baker in the 32nd minute.
Wawasee (3-5-1) will host DeKalb on Thursday.
