Wawasee Sports Wrap – Sept. 17
Wawasee concluded its boys tennis regular season slate on a low note, losing 4-1 to NorthWood Monday night in what was also the final Northern Lakes Conference match for both clubs.
The lone court win for Wawasee (1-14, 0-7 NLC) came at one singles, where Kyler Love beat Mitchell Keiser 6-0, 6-2.
Winners for NorthWood (2-12, 1-6 NLC) included Quinn Stillson, a 6-2, 6-1 winner over Chase Myers at two singles and Abe Robinson’s 6-1, 6-0 win against Todd Hauser at three singles.
The pairing of Brennan Angle and Jayson Linhart at one doubles beat Isaac Rigdon and Dylan Houser one and one while Devyn Maugel and Caleb Yoder bested Roz Kunkle and Doug Hapner two and one.
NorthWood’s Austin Sanders (8-0) and Luke Stump (8-1) were winners in JV matches against Warrior Leonard Kline.
Both Wawasee and NorthWood will move to the NLC Tournament, which begins at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday with the first round at Concord. The second round will resume Thursday and the final round Saturday, both also at Concord.
