Grace Soccer Players Honored
WINONA LAKE – The Crossroads League awarded Carmen Barnhill and Mallory Rondeau as their players of the week on Monday.
Barnhill (Lexington, Ohio) was named the Defensive Player of the Week for her work as the Lady Lancers’ goalkeeper, and Rondeau (Winona Lake, Ind.) earned Offensive Player of the Week honors.
Senior goalkeeper Barnhill has been a major reason Grace currently ranks No. 1 in the NAIA with six shutouts. Barnhill helped the Lady Lancers to two more shutouts last week on consecutive nights.
She saved three shots in a 90-minute shutout of Aquinas (Mich.) on Friday, and then played for two-thirds of Grace’s shutout win over Missouri Baptist on Saturday. Barnhill recorded the only two saves Grace needed to make against Missouri Baptist.
Freshman forward Rondeau’s stellar week allowed the Lady Lancers to conclude their nonleague season with a 7-1-1 record. For the week, Rondeau tallied 3 goals and an assist to have a hand in over half of Grace’s goals for the week.
She recorded a goal and an assist in Grace’s 3-0 win over Aquinas and followed that up with two goals in a 4-0 victory over Missouri Baptist. The Lady Lancers’ two wins came on consecutive nights at a neutral field.
