The NWPL’s Local History and Genealogy Center begins its “We Remember War Series” at 5 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 2.
This first session in the month-long series will focus on the American Revolution and the War of 1812 with featured speaker Jim Nelson. The series continues every Tuesday evening throughout October, focusing on a different war and guest speaker each session.
The Euchre Club will also meet at 5:15 p.m. on Tuesdays in the NWPL Meeting Room. It’s always a good time of friendly competition, fun, and munchies; so come and bring your friends.
On Wednesday, Oct. 3, the Youth Services Department will be atwitter with critters as “Pets with Mrs. Pam” Preschool Story Time begins. The fall session will focus on all kinds of pets as Youth Librarian Pam Long (aka Mrs. Pam) engages the children in stories, songs, games, finger plays, and crafts. Preschool Story Time is held at 10:30 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. every Wednesday morning through November 21. Registration is currently in progress, so hurry and get your child signed up.
Also on Wednesday, the “Beginning Genealogy” class continues its second session at 2 p.m. as participants learn how to get started in researching their family history.
Another “Make and Take Card Class”, taught by Donna Newhaus, will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 4. Held monthly, this is a popular class where participants have fun learning how to design and create their own custom greeting cards, plus they get to take home all the cards they make. Class openings are still available, but you must pre-register at the front desk. A $7 class fee is due when you sign up.
The NWPL will delay opening until 2 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 5. This will enable the NWPL staff to attend staff training. Professional staff development and keeping abreast of the current trends in library science is what makes NWPL one of the best “small town” libraries around.
