Jimmie Lee ‘Jim’ White
Jimmie Lee “Jim” White, 74, of Syracuse, Ind., passed away at 8:35 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 25, 2012, at IU Goshen Hospital.
He was born on Dec. 31, 1937, in Etna Green, Ind., to Robert O. and Mary E. (Heckaman) White.
He graduated in 1956 from Etna Green High School, 1961 from Ball State in Muncie, and then received his Master’s Degree from Ball State and was married on July 30, 1961, to Janet J. Rhodes who survives. He was a lifetime Marshall / Kosciusko County area resident, having moved to Milford / Syracuse area in 1968 from Plymouth and was a retired educator after many years of teaching band, choir and shop at local schools.
He was a member of the St. Andrew’s United Methodist Church where he was very active with the music department.
Mr. White is survived by his wife: Janet White, Syracuse; two daughters: Jamie (Dean) Culbertson, Syracuse; and JoLene (Edgar) Treace, Fort Wayne, Ind.; two grandchildren: Sarah Asher and John Asher; four step-grandchildren; three sisters: Mary Ann Bules, Etna Green, Ind.; Kay (Frank) Furaro, Mishawaka, Ind.; and Loretta Holderead, Muncie, Ind.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, Sept. 28, at Owen Family Funeral Home, 1001 S. Huntington St., Syracuse. Funeral services will be at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 29, at the St. Andrew’s United Methodist Church, 1413 N. Long Dr., Syracuse with Pastor Mark Eastway of the church officiating. Burial will follow in the Syracuse Cemetery.
