IU Cancer Researcher to Lead Stanford Oncology
A prominent cancer researcher at the Indiana University School of Medicine is leaving. Dr. George Sledge will become director of the Division of Oncology in the Department of Medicine at Stanford University in January. Sledge is an internationally-recognized breast cancer researcher who has been leading a 30-member team at the school.
The university says Sledge conducted the first large, national study on the use of Taxol to treat advanced breast cancer.
The school says Sledge’s research has led to many of the standard treatments currently in use.
He was bestowed a distinguished professorship earlier this year by Indiana University.
