Habitat Names Family for Women Build
Habitat has three main criteria that applicants must meet to become a Partner Family: (1) there must be a need; (2) there must be an ability to repay; and (3) the family must be willing to partner with Habitat by completing sweat equity hours and other requirements. The Jones family meets all three requirements.
Over the past four months Diane has devastatingly lost both her mother and father and is currently living at her parent’s apartment with an uncertainty of how long she will be allowed to remain as she had moved in to help provide care for them. Diane has worked for the past three years at Helvey & Associates and is an exemplary employee. Finally, Diana is ready, willing, able and chomping at the bit to begin her sweat equity requirements.
Diane and her son will become the proud owners of the first Women Build home in Kosciusko County. At present the funding for the Women Build project is just over 50 percent with $37,000 raised toward the total goal of $70,400. Habitat is actively seeking partners to help finish the funding as the repayment of Habitat mortgages by Partner Families provides the funds to build more homes.
The Women Build committee is hosting Happy Appé Hour, a wine tasting, appetizer competition and silent auction on Thursday, Oct. 25, at Mad Anthony Lake City Tap House in Warsaw beginning at 5 p.m. Tickets are available by calling 574-269-4104.
