Craig Sends Whitko Through
HARTFORD CITY — Reghan Craig’s goal in the second half was golden for Whitko, as the Lady Wildcats beat Mississinewa 2-1 in the first round of the Blackford Girls Soccer Sectional Monday in Hartford City.
Craig’s second goal of the year was assisted by sister Cagney Craig. Ellyana Blue continued her torrid scoring pace, netting her 15th goal earlier in the second half. Jordan Hall made four saves to pick up her first career postseason win.
Whitko beat Mississnewa 4-0 earlier in the season, and the River Rats bow out of the 2012 season nary a win.
The win sends the Lady Wildcats (5-6-2) on to face Oak Hill, a 3-2 penalty kick winner over host Blackford in the first game of the night. Whitko and Oak Hill will meet in Thursday’s first semi-final at 5:30 p.m. Tonight, Maconaquah and North Miami will face off in the first game and Manchester and Peru will take the field in the nightcap. Tonight’s winners will play in Thursday’s second game.
