Quaker Haven Hosting Michael Card
Beginning at 7 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 27, Quaker Haven Camp will host contemporary Christian singer, songwriter and author Michael Card in concert.
Doors will open at 6:30 p.m. Tickets can be purchased that day for $12 or in advance, also for $12.
Prior to the concert, Card will conduct a seminar on the book of Mark. The seminar will begin at 3 p.m.
Attendees can purchase a package deal for $30, which includes the seminar, the concert and dinner. Seating is limited for the seminar and dinner, but not for the concert.
Card will be at the dinner, as well.
During a 30-year career, Card has recorded more than 31 albums. He has written more than 19 number-one hits and some of his best-known songs include, “Love Crucified Arose,” “Emmanuel” and “El Shaddai,” made popular by Amy Grant.
Along with all of those songs come more than 24 books he has either authored or co-authored. Aside from being an award-winning author and songwriter, Card has also received honorary Ph.D.s in music and Christian education.
This is Card’s second visit to Quaker Haven since 2009.
“We look forward to having Michael here again,” Quaker Haven Program Director Kevin Lipsey said. “His music and teaching are such a blessing.”
Card is not the only contemporary Christian recording artist to perform at Quaker Haven. In 2011, the camp hosted Phil Keaggy, also well-known. So far, Lipsey said, there is nothing on the agenda for next year as far as big-name artists, but there is always the possibility.
“We have nothing lined up yet, but do plan on doing something like this again,” he said.
