Richard L. “Dick” Moyer, 77, of Akron, Ind., passed away at 9:20 a.m. Friday, Oct. 12, 2012, at Parkview Regional Medical Center, Fort Wayne, Ind., where he had been hospitalized since Oct. 6, 2012.

He was born Aug. 5, 1935, in Wabash County, Ind., to George and Barbara Kuhn Moyer. He married Norma Leiter on Sept. 5, 1953, at Olive Branch Church of God, Roann, Ind.

He had worked at Peabody Manufacturing in North Manchester, Ind., he also was a farmer and had been a livestock trucker. Most recently he did custom lawn mowing.

Mr. Moyer was a member of the Silver Creek Church of God. He enjoyed visiting with people and he loved watching the happenings of town from his chair on the front porch. He loved his dog named Lovey. In his earlier years he enjoyed racing Trotting Horses.

He is survived by his wife: Norma Moyer, Akron; two daughters: Denise Cody, Columbia City, Ind.; and Teresa (Gary) Ensign, Mentone, Ind.; seven sons: Randy (Tina) Moyer, Nappanee, Ind.; Terry Moyer, Columbia City; Gary (Holly) Moyer, Argos, Ind.; Danny Moyer, Columbia City; Bob (Patty) Moyer, Peru, Ind.; Don (Tina) Moyer, Nappanee, Ind.; Chris Moyer, North Manchester; nine grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 16, at Hartzler Funeral Home, 305 W. Rochester St., Akron. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 17, at the funeral home with Pastor Tom Craig. Burial will be at Gaerte Cemetery, Macy, Ind.
