Anderson Paces Triton Sectional Win
CULVER – Shana Anderson powered the Triton volleyball team to a sectional victory Tuesday night at Culver.
Anderson slammed down 16 kills as the Trojans topped South Central 3-0 in the opener of the Class 1-A Culver Sectional.
Breanna Lemler added eight kills and Krystal Sellers four as Triton won 25-23, 25-19, 25-22 versus the Satellites.
Triton advances to play Argos Saturday at 10:30 a.m. in the first semifinal match.
The sectional continues Thursday as Michigan City Marquette faces Culver at 6:30 p.m., followed by Oregon-Davis versus Westville. The winners of those two matches then meet Saturday at noon in the second semifinal contest.
The championship match at Culver is scheduled for Saturday at 6:30 p.m.
Sellers led the Triton defense Tuesday night with 15 digs. Emilee Koontz and Holly Stogsdill each had 11, Marissa Ross 10 and Anderson seven.
Setter Ross racked up 28 assists in the win and also had two aces. Lemler and Koontz each also had a pair of aces and Jaela Meister led the team with two solo blocks.
Host Culver is the defending sectional champion. Triton’s last sectional title came in 2002 in Class 2-A.
