LCA Falls In Volleyball Sectional
FORT WAYNE – A successful season came to end Tuesday night for the Lakeland Christian Academy volleyball team.
The Cougars, taking part in their first-ever IHSAA sectional match, lost 3-0 to host Fort Wayne Blackhawk Christian.
The hosts and defending sectional champions topped LCA 25-23, 25-3, 25-21 in first-round play of the Class 1-A sectional.
LCA, which finishes its season at 12-9, led in both games one and three before Blackhawk rallied to complete the victory.
Senior Frani Gerst had eight kills and sophomore setter Paige Price 12 assists to lead LCA.
Blackhawk Christian, now 24-6, advances to semifinal play Saturday versus Fort Wayne Canterbury at 11 a.m. Canterbury defeated Howe Military 3-0 Tuesday.
